Abby

Adopted MAY 2022!

Abby’s Story:

Abby was relinquished to Camp Cocker Rescue in May 2022 by a woman who works in cat rescue. She’d ended up with the precious Cocker Spaniel when Abby’s original owner brought her cat in to get fixed and asked her to take her. The woman had purchased Abby from a breeder in order to breed her and make money, but when the male Cocker died of Parvo, Abby was left outdoors alone. She was only 1 year old when she came into our care and, fortunately, never ended up having any puppies.

Now known as Zoe, she's been acclimating well to her new home! She does lots of running around and sniffing and she seems to have gotten comfortable in the space and with her new family. She has definitely made her presence known during the puppy pile time on their bed and she is loving all the toys she gets to play with. Her two cocker spaniel brothers generally seem to enjoy her and they all get along, but they're still getting used to her puppy energy. Her brothers, Ziggy and Russ, are very gentle with her, even though she sometimes gets more excited about their food than her own.

Her parents are going to have her work with their trainer so she feels comfortable with the doggy door and some general commands. Their dog trainer is very kind and focused on positive training/reinforcement. They've begun doing a little training with her on their own and say she's doing great! They've also discovered that belly rubs are worth almost as much as treats, so Zoe gets lots and lots of snuggles. Apparently, Zoe is pretty funny when she plays fetch - she is definitely excited to run around and chase the ball but hasn't quite figured out the whole "bring it back part." It's pretty cute.

Fun Fact: Zoe’s big brother Ziggy (formerly known as Finn) is also a Camp Cocker alumni, from the class of 2018!
