Allie
Adopted OCTOBER 2019!
Allie’s Story:
This sweet little girl was only six months old when we rescued her from the Hesperia, CA animal shelter in September 2019. Allie had one eye bulging out of her head and needed emergency enucleation surgery. She was finally rehabbing from her surgery and had just started a two week foster-to-adopt with some nice people when she suddenly went blind in the other eye. Sadly, we learned that she had acute glaucoma in that eye, as well. Eye medication could not control the pain and pressure and Allie ended up needing a second enucleation surgery. It was heartbreaking - she was just a baby and her new people had barely gotten to know her.
Her compassionate foster family still wanted to adopt the darling girl and give her a happy life with them. They are so in love with her and have named her Poppy! They take her camping and on all kinds of fun adventures. She quickly adapted to being blind and understands special words to help her navigate. Her parents tell us that she is adventurous, fearless, curious, and so smart. People truly cannot believe she is blind. Everyone who meets Poppy falls instantly in love with her, and she is loving her new life! She has made a lot of pup friends and is so playful with her family and other dogs. We love it when adopters will consider adopting a dog that is "perfectly imperfect". It is stories like this that renew our faith in humankind.
From Poppy’s adopters: “Poppy is incredible… we still marvel at her and are more and more in love with her each day.”
We rely on your donations! Please consider donating just $5 to help us rescue more dogs in need.
