Apple

Adopted NOVEMBER 2023!

Apple’s Story:

Darling Apple joined Camp Cocker in November 2023 as a Freedom Flyer from South Korea. She had been rescued from a puppy mill located in the middle of nowhere by our rescue partners known as Cocker Spaniel Friends aka the Cocker Moms. The woman who discovered the place had actually been lost and she heard the dogs barking and reported it. As with most puppy mills, the conditions were horrendous and the dogs spent their entire lives in filthy cages. Poor Apple had badly inflamed ears and needed to have dental surgery and repair of a cherry eye in her left eye. She also tested positive for heartworm. Sadly, Apple had to wait for a month to begin her heartworm treatment because she was on her period and her rescuers had to make sure she wasn’t pregnant. Fortunately, she was not! At only 3-5 years of age, Apple had obviously had multiple litters of puppies already. Having never been out of her cage before, she was very fearful of the outside world and had a lot of PTSD from life in the puppy mill. This shy girl definitely needed a nice, quiet home with another, more confident dog in it.

We received so much adoption interest in Apple, likely due to her petite size of only 17 pounds. Plus, she’s gorgeous! Sweet, sensitive Apple still needs to be hand fed, but she has not had any potty accidents inside her new home and she’s enjoying getting lots of love and affection. Her family says she’s a quick learner, still a little scared but improving each day. Her new cocker spaniel sister, Lulu (Camp Cocker alumni from 2019!) is happy to show her the ropes. Apple follows her everywhere and their parents gladly give Lulu credit for helping Apple settle into their home so quickly.

From Apple’s adopters: “Thank you so much for saving her, Apple is so beautiful!
