Athena

Adopted APRIL 2024!

Athena’s Story:

Adorable Athena joined Camp Cocker in December 2023 when we rescued her from the South Los Angeles animal shelter with a luxated left hip. We took Athena to a specialty hospital for FHO surgery, followed by physical therapy to help her heal. She showed some signs of separation anxiety in her first foster home, but after moving to another foster home with a dog and cat in residence, that behavior subsided. This sweetie just didn’t like to be alone! We also worked with Athena on socialization and potty training. She is a young dog, perhaps 2-4 years old, and has lots of energy. She made us laugh by doing zoomies, twirling, and tossing her toys up in the air for herself to chase. You’d never know this girl had hip surgery! She weighs only 12 pounds, is very affectionate and really loves to snuggle and give kisses.

Athena is having such fun playing with her new dog brother, Gigi, another little rescue dog around two years of age. The two became fast friends and Athena is quickly adjusting to the family’s schedule and life in Portland, OR. Her new mom shares that Athena is such a sweet dog and she really appreciates the fostering that she went through. They enjoy going for walks together and Athena is very good at sleeping through the night. She especially loves to cuddle - and her mom loves that, too!
