AUGGIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

• Auggie was relinquished to Camp Cocker Rescue by his owner, who had purchased him from a backyard breeder. His family realized he needed more time, attention and exercise than they could manage, and cared enough to research rescue groups in order to find the best place for him.

• Auggie is a 6 month old, male Cocker Spaniel.

• Auggie is a sweet boy. He craves human interaction, pets, kind words, approval.  He is dog friendly and normal for his young age, with lots of puppy energy! 

• Auggie’s front right arm has a neurological twitch. When he runs, his gait may be slightly affected on that arm.

• Our vet also observed that Auggie’s teeth seem to have enamel loss.   Because there is no protection on his teeth, the teeth are starting to stain and little chips are beginning.  We plan to take Auggie to get a consult on bonding his teeth, a procedure that requires anesthesia.   If he is a candidate for tooth bonding, it can save his teeth.

• The combination of the arm twitch and the loss of tooth enamel can be indicators that Auggie may be a distemper survivor. 

• Auggie’s adopters will need to be prepared for future medical issues that may occur in his life.  Backyard breeding can result in unexpected genetic anomalies.
