Bagel

Adopted FEBRUARY 2023!

Bagel’s Story:

We discovered this handsome beagle mix at the Riverside Animal Shelter in December 2022. We were there to pick up another dog we’d committed to, and there he was looking at us through the window. Naturally, we inquired about him! Bagel was quite underweight, weighing only 17 pounds, and had a cast on his leg. It was suspected that he may have been hit by a car before he was picked up as a stray. Estimated to be between 2-4 years of age, this friendly boy with the soulful eyes was scheduled to be euthanized the following day. We drove him straight to a surgical specialist, where he had surgery for a left tibial and fibular fracture. Bagel was incredibly sweet with us from the start; he loves to give kisses and be near people!

Once healed from surgery, he was able to go home with his new dad, who has named him Goose! He has been settling in well and having lots of fun in his new home. Goose is energetic and loves going on walks, joyfully meeting other neighborhood dogs along the way. He currently gets three good size meals per day and has gained some necessary weight. His leg seems to be of no issue to him… he moves around and jumps with ease! Until he is cleared from all activity restriction, however, his adopter continues to carry him up and down the stairs. His dad says Goose is his little shadow; no doubt Goose is over the moon to be in a loving forever home, and we are thrilled to have helped him get there!
