What we know about Beau:
About 11 years old, but is fun and playful with a lot of energy. He often gets mistaken for a much younger dog! Loves walks and even likes to run for short stretches. He is very smart and always remembers his favorite places to check out on walks.
Super sweet and relaxed! He absolutely loves ear rubs and belly rubs and loves to play around. He has the cutest tail wag you have ever seen.
LOVES people - is so happy just to be near you. He is a great companion and will lounge with you as long as you are willing. He easily bonds to new people and is very social.
He is great in the car and knows the best spots to sit to get comfortable. He does great on long car drives and even sailing trips! Does not get motion sick and enjoys the open air.
Very well house-trained. Knows to ask to go out and is quick with his business at night!
Really enjoys meeting other dogs.
He seems to have trouble with seeing longer distances and possibly peripheral and night vision, but this doesn't keep him down at all! He is a great walker, and any sight issues do not really affect his day-to-day. He may have trouble hearing certain sounds, but generally seems to hear most things and knows commands like sit, shake, and stay -- especially when treats are on the table! He is confident and independent.
He takes eye drops for his dry eye, which he is getting used to and is quite good with. He is generally very tolerant of being groomed.
Loves to explore new environments, especially if there are open spaces. He does not like being confined to small spaces -- a room is fine (and he is always content if you are near him).
Has a grade 3 (out of 6) heart murmur - just had an appointment with a cardiologist so we know he has mitral valve disease but no heart enlargement and does not need meds.
