What we know about Chrissy!

  • About 5 to 6 months old

  • Super tiny! Less than 10 pounds!

  • A terrier-mix. She does shed!

  • Very food motivated and loves treats!

  • Is very smart and learns quickly!

  • Is somewhat barky - can be bossy with other dogs.

  • Is very sensitive and scared of loud noises. Would do best in a quiet home with no children.

  • Is very timid and skittish. Needs a very patient adopter! Because she is so timid, it will take Chrissy a long time to be comfortable doing normal dog things like going for walks or being cuddled.

  • Could really use a confident dog buddy!

  • Is best friends with Camp Cocker dog Loki at daycare!

  • Afraid of men. :(

Notes From Chrissy’s Foster Parents:

This tiny little girl has big personality! Chrissy is an incredibly curious puppy and wants to investigate everything. Any item that is moved around the house gets a thorough inspection by her. She enjoys emptying the toy box one item at a time and collecting them in a pile on her bed, loves sprawling out on the most giant dog beds that we have, and is very smart and recently learned to sit on command!

We strongly believe that having other dogs here to guide her has been immensely beneficial to Chrissy's process of building confidence and learning to trust us. She shadows our two dogs and copies everything they do (truly just like a baby sister!). She is often still apprehensive to come up to us on her own, but is right there licking us and getting pets when the other dogs approach us. Especially if there are treats involved!

She LOVES to play with our dogs, too, and has literally had us in tears from laughing so hard at the hilarity of her bounciness. She is so fast and loves to run! Her tiny size and the way she hops around has earned her the nickname "Squirrel."

Chrissy is extremely timid and nervous of new things; strangers, other dogs she doesn't know, a passing cat, a plastic bag blowing down the street... they all get barked at. She does the majority of her barking while on walks (she is pretty quiet indoors) and will start barking two houses down in anticipation of the energetic Husky that lives in the fourth yard away. We have been working with her on the barking and she is improving slowly, but I think it also improves as she becomes more comfortable with us and more familiar with her surroundings.

She is very good about using potty pads and uses one every night while we are sleeping. Because she was so nervous initially, Chrissy didn't like to potty outside for the first few weeks that we had her, and she would come back from a long walk only to use a potty pad inside. We think she was just not comfortable enough to potty outside with so many distractions. We now have her on a strict potty schedule (walks every 2-3 hours) and though she likes to take her time choosing juuust the right spot to go, she has started going to the bathroom outside and rarely uses pads inside during the day!

Chrissy puts herself to bed each night in a dog bed next to our bed (that's her preferred sleeping space) and wakes us every morning with the tiniest whimpers saying "It's breakfast time!" She is always very excited to greet us now, which feels marvelous considering how terrified she was when she first moved in this past June. We have found that she is still a bit more skittish with men than with women. This baby just needs someone patient, who will take it slow and give her time to warm up. She's ridiculously cute and funny, and very, very lovable.
