Chrissy’s Story:

Our tiniest Freedom Flyer to date, Chrissy flew from South Korea to Los Angeles, CA in April 2020 when she was about 4 months old and weighed only five pounds. She had been rescued from the Kangreung City animal shelter after she was discovered abandoned on the side of the road with another dog, named Tina. Although Chrissy liked to play with other dogs, she was extremely timid with people (especially men) and because she was so skittish, she was considered a high flight risk. Shy Chrissy was even returned to Camp Cocker by her first adopters for being too scared and hiding under their furniture. We wanted to find her a nice quiet home with another dog to help her overcome her fears.

With the help of patient foster parents and their two older dogs who helped Chrissy build confidence, she slowly began coming out of her shell. It’s no surprise that she stole the hearts of her foster family and, well, they foster-failed! Now her forever family, they affectionately call her Squirrel because of her small size and bounciness when she plays. She is always making them laugh. This silly schnauzer mix is also very smart and curious.

Squirrel loves to play with her dog sisters more than anything! She also enjoys going hiking with her parents, where she is carried in a backpack when she needs a break from exploring or becomes overwhelmed. She has become quite affectionate with her adopters, regularly seeking out snuggles and pets from them, and is getting braver all the time. Weighing a whopping seven pounds now, she is her mommy’s little shadow.
