Coco
Adopted JULY 2023!
Coco’s Story:
Rescued in November 2022, 5-8 year old Coco is such a good girl! She is active, friendly, and adaptable. She tends to react with curiosity and enthusiasm. Because Coco had been rescued from a puppy mill, potty training has been a big challenge for her. This is common with puppy mill dogs, as they are forced to spend their entire lives in a small cage, Coco just happened to come to us from a puppy mill in South Korea via our Freedom Flight program. She and her travel companion, Koda, both had infected ears and eyes and, sadly, all of the dogs had also been debarked by the breeder in Korea. Coco arrived with a very stinky mouth, too, and required several extractions during her dental procedure. Despite her sad history, Coco is incredibly sweet and so affectionate. She loves people and other dogs and is very playful!
Now named Frankie, she quickly learned her new name thanks to lots of treats and encouragement from her adopters. She's comfortable in her new home and is now familiar with their routine, too. Her parents are getting much better at reading her body language and report that Frankie has made incredible progress with her potty training, from 8-10 accidents a day to any accidents in the house being a rare occurrence. She's even become quite the champ at holding it for longer between potty breaks. Way to go, girl!
Frankie hasn't quite figured out that her new 12-year-old cocker brother, Abby, is not able to see or hear. She really wants him to play with her and doesn't understand why he’s so stoic. Abby often sniffs around wondering where Frankie is if she's not in the room, though, and will lay down next to her. The two dogs are great company for one another. Additionally, Frankie has shown some serious puzzle-solving skills and "Come," "Wait," and "Leave it" are practically second nature to her. She's also a huge fan of bedtime cuddles which has become a cherished ritual for the family.
From Frankie’s adopters: “She’s a really excellent addition to our lives.”
