Gold
Adopted JANUARY 2021!
Gold’s Story:
Gold was about 5 months old when he joined Camp Cocker as part of our Freedom Flight program. In December 2020, he and five other Beagles were flown to Los Angeles, CA after they’d been rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea. We are so thankful to our rescue partners at K9 Korean Rescue for saving them! Some of Gold’s travel companions appear to be his littermates. We aren’t certain, but we suspect that the young female Beagle named Gabby, whom they were rescued with, may be their mother.
His adopters have come to the conclusion that that Gold is an old soul. His new name is HMS Beagle, “Buddy” for short - a tribute to his long travels and survival in spite of the odds. They say he plays a mean soccer game with a tennis ball, with some wicked footwork! He likes watching the squirrels, cats and birds from the kitchen door, though he’d prefer to be let out so he could chase them. Buddy loves going for walks around the big park near their house and he’s met and charmed all of the neighbors. He's really settled into life in Sacramento and has several dog friends that he plays with regularly.
His new parents say he eats like a teenage boy and is a snuggle bug when it’s time for bed. They had a DNA test done for Buddy and share that he is 36% Beagle and 64% “Korean Village Dog” with a high “wolfiness” score. No wonder he’s such a big boy!
