GUS GUS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!
Estimated 2-3 years old, light-tan, 24 pounds, neutered boy
Gus Gus is potty trained and can be left alone in the house if needed –- no separation anxiety here! He will be beside himself with excitement when you get home!
He is a mixed breed. According to the doggie DNA test, he is a mix of Chow Chow, Border Collie, Jindo, Rottweiler, and Labrador Retriever!
Gus Gus has an "amputated left forelimb” due to unknown trauma as a puppy. Our physical therapist has determined that he is unfortunately not a candidate for a prosthesis, but he is doing swim therapy to help ease pain and build his stamina. He will never be able to go on long hikes, but he is still very mobile and quick when he wants to be! He can jump on and off the couch and bed, although it’s a good idea to assist him whenever possible.
He likes to go for walks around the neighborhood (up to a mile).
He loves playing with his foster brother (a German Shepherd mix), and loves playing chase with his foster parents!
He is a super sweet and chill boy, but he's quite shy and a little hesitant to engage with unknown humans and environments (we suspect it’s a result of his leg injury). He has come a long way in his foster home, though, and has learned to adapt faster and faster to new situations and people.
Gus Gus loves getting pets and scratches and will cuddle with you.
Despite his amputation, Gus Gus is a very easygoing dog and not at all high maintenance. However, he will need to continue his physical therapy and swim sessions to keep him mobile.
Gus Gus is currently being fostered in the Bay Area.
