Homer
Adopted november 2020!
Homer’s Story:
Handsome Homer was rescued from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter in October 2020 after he had been hit by a car. The fracture to Homer’s arm did not require surgery and he was able to heal on his own, but he does have the occasional seizure. Homer also presented some trust and handling issues, but once this adorable 5-year-old cocker spaniel boy warms up to you, he loves nothing more than to be pet and get belly rubs!
Homer is doing very well in his new home! He takes medication to help with his seizures and his family reports that he has been a total sweetheart. He loves attention and affection and his parents have been working on rewarding his positive behaviors as often as possible. He enjoys going on walks around their neighborhood, followed by naps on the couch and in his bed. He also likes to nap in the kitchen while his family is eating. He's part of the family! He's mellow most days, but will take any attention they give him and is always excited to snuggle on the couch with his parents. They say he is the perfect balance! Very smart and easily trained.
Due to the way Homer’s forelimb healed after the car accident, it had to be amputated by an orthopedic surgeon a year or so after his adoption. His family was so excited to see him continue to feel more confident on 3 legs and happy to be out of pain! Homer is even more spry than before and continues going to physical therapy.
From Homer’s adopters: “We love him! He is such a good dog, who loves to be loved by us! We feel lucky to have adopted him.”
