Loretta

Adopted NOVEMBER 2022!

Loretta’s Story:

Loretta is a beautiful blind cocker spaniel who was rescued from the North Central Los Angeles city animal shelter in August 2022. She had clearly been neglected. She was overweight, had some mammary tumors needing removal, and needed to have a dental done, as well as medication for severe dry eye. Being blind in both eyes doesn't slow this girl down. She is always excited to meet new human friends and is very friendly with other dogs. Loretta’s microchip information said that she was around 8 1/2 years old at the time of her rescue. The shelter had said she was closer to 14. We have no way of knowing if her former owners knew her real age, or if they’d had her since she was a puppy, but Loretta's foster parents said she doesn't act like a senior dog.

Loretta’s adopters flew all the way from British Columbia to meet her and take her home. Her first night at home was a little restless but she has settled in quickly since then. She is sleeping through the night and getting used to her new routine. She already follows her mom and dad around the house everywhere they go. Loretta seems to be adapting to the colder weather in Edmonton, but the snow and ice on the ground is still a little confusing to her. She doesn't let her lack of sight hold her back and she walks very well on a leash and is always excited to go out for walks.

Loretta enjoys sleeping, which is what she seems to do best! She is getting more comfortable with sleeping on the couch or up on the bed every day, and her parents are excited to have her cuddle with them as the weather gets colder! Everyone is very interested in Loretta, as she is in them, and she’s loved by everyone who meets her.

From Loretta’s adopters: “We absolutely love Loretta and the feeling seems mutual, We can't believe how lucky we are to get to be Loretta's adopters and that she could make the journey to live with us!
