WELCOME TO CAMP COCKER RESCUE, MARTY!
MARTY is a young male Cocker Spaniel Freedom Flyer from S Korea who will arrive in Los Angeles on 3/11/25 - joining Camp Cocker to find his new home! Marty is estimated* to be about 2-ish years old, and is a smaller Cocker at 21 pounds.
Marty was rescued from the Busan puppy mill shut down in October - by our amazing rescue partners Cocker Friends Korea (FKA the Cocker Moms). The cruel, filthy living conditions were similar to how a typical American puppy mill is run, truly heartbreaking! Over 600 dogs and multiple Korean rescue organizations showed up to work around the clock for 48 hours until every dog was removed to safety.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT PUPPY MILL DOGS:
Puppy mill dogs need very special adopters - patient people who will be understanding that potty training may be a very long learning curve.
Force free training is the only way to go, these dogs are already so fearful and they need kindness, not a dominant alpha approach.
These dogs will be extreme flight risks, so a home with no children is safer in terms of entrances and exits being 100% controlled by adults only.
Some of the more timid dogs will need a home with another confident dog to help show them the way. Typically, puppy mill dogs are dog-friendly.
We usually do not know the ages of puppy mill dogs, which is a common question that potential adopters ask.
For adopters that want only a young dog, we ask them to please understand that age is not how we evaluate a dog for their value. A nice dog is a nice dog and that is our point of view. We find that adopters who are open minded about the age of the dog, end up having the best adoption experiences.
*Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination.
Stay tuned for more details as we get them - here and on our Facebook & Instagram pages.
What we recommend is that serious adoption inquiries please submit an application and then be open to our suggestions about which dog(s) might be the best match for you.
Camp Cocker Rescue is based in Los Angeles and we do adopt out all over the U.S. mainland. However we do not waive any steps of the adoption process. Out of state adopters must complete the same exact screening process as anyone else and then travel to California to adopt in person.
Thank you so much for your support of these little puppy mill survivors!
