Noodles

Freedom Flight Rescue, Mongolia

WELCOME TO AMERICA NOODLES!

FREEDOM FLYER Noodles landed in America on 6/3/23, after a long plane ride from Mongolia. He is estimated* to be about 8-10 years old and weighs about 27 pounds.

Noodles is a gem of a dog! He is a fun, affectionate, easygoing companion. His favorite thing is snuggling with his people on the sofa. But he's also content to nap on the sofa by himself when you're busy. And when you reappear, his one eye will brighten and he'll greet you with a wiggly body and wagging tail.

He loves toys, especially his lamb (who traveled with him from Mongolia). He likes to pick up a toy, jump up on the sofa with it, and when it falls to the floor, he likes you to pick it up for him. ;)

Noodles is housetrained. He does like marking things, but only outside.

Noodles is fine around other dogs.

He should probably not live in a household with a cat or young children.

Noodles enjoys going on walks and is accustomed to the leash. He loves getting attention from strangers and isn’t bothered by dogs. He does not react even when dogs bark at him.

Noodles has some hearing loss. He can hear a whistle, a squeaky toy, and loud noises, but he doesn't seem to hear softer sounds. The good news is that he is not a dog who will bark at every noise from outside.

Noodles had to have one eye removed due to glaucoma. A veterinary ophthalmologist examined him and said his remaining eye is healthy with good vision. Noodles gets eye drops to keep that eye healthy.

*Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination!

Noodles is being fostered in the Los Angeles area.

About Noodles!  This middle-aged gentleman found himself in quite a pickle.  You see, he was a stray dog in Mongolia, a poor country that does not have the budget for animal control or for animal shelters.  The only chance for a dog like Noodles is if a rescuer happens to save him from the streets.

Noodles caught his lucky break and although his rescuer is very poor and doesn't have a climate-controlled facility for the animals to live indoors, at least Noodles was kept safe and given a dog house and food and water.

This is where Rob and Kim came along.  While on a work assignment in Mongolia, they were eager to make a difference for animals in need of new homes.  They helped Noodles to get moved indoors and are fostering him, while he is preparing to travel to Camp Cocker Rescue.

His left eye was blind and was hurting him, so Noodles had an eye enucleation this week.  He will be much more comfortable for his travel to California with that eye having been removed.

In the fall of 2022 Camp Cocker committed to taking in seven cocker spaniels and cocker mixes from rescuers in Mongolia.

Noodles is the sixth to arrive.

The process is quite extensive because Mongolia is on the list of countries that the CDC. has on a watch list for rabies.   So each dog must go through a lengthy process in order to get approved to enter the U.S.

It can take up to five months (or longer!) to get permission, after two rabies vaccines, a blood draw, a titer test, and lots of paperwork.

We at Camp Cocker Rescue believe that compassion has no borders and just because Noodles happened to be born into a situation where his options were limited, doesn't mean he isn't worth being rescued.

PLEASE HELP US TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT NOODLES AND OTHER COCKER SPANIELS FROM MONGOLIA!

Thank you for having a heart for dogs like Noodles. It means so much to us to be able to say “yes” to a shelter dog in need, no matter where that shelter is located.

We rely on support in the form of small donations and volunteers. Please consider donating any amount to help us meet our rescue expenses which include medical, transport, and general care for rescued dogs awaiting adoption!
