Oliver

Adopted august 2020!

Oliver’s Story:

Wigglebutt Oliver was rescued from the Downey SEAACA Shelter in July 2020. Sadly, this adorable eleven-year-old Cavalier had a mouth full of rotten teeth and a massive tumor that was growing in his mouth pushing his teeth apart. Many roots of his teeth were exposed and he had a hard time eating. That didn’t prevent this sweetheart from wanting to give lots of stinky kisses, however! To make matters worse, Oliver was diagnosed with a grade five to six heart murmur (out of six being the highest grade), which makes going under anesthesia extremely risky.

There was no other humane alternative but for Oliver to have mouth surgery to remove the teeth and mass and to have the mass biopsied for any cancer cells. Everyone was so nervous he would not wake up from the anesthesia, but he did!!!

Oliver’s results from the biopsy came back clear, and after a visit to the cardiologist it was determined that Oliver still had some years left in him! Oliver’s adopter was touched by his story and Oliver is now getting all the snuggles his heart desires. He enjoys eating peanut butter snacks, which helps to exercise and maintain dexterity in his tongue since he has no teeth, and has been making his family laugh by zooming around the yard and barking at other dogs on the television.
