Pako
Adopted JUNE 2023!
Pako’s Story:
In April 2023, this cheerful cocker spaniel mix flew to America from Mongolia, where he’d been found as a stray in Ulaanbaatar and spent several months at the Huurhun Zulzaga animal shelter. Pako is friendly and was always incredibly happy to see volunteers at the shelter. He was the most energetic of the Mongolian spaniels, too. He loves to run, jump in place, and has a strong prey drive. Some of his restlessness likely stems from anxiety, so he needed an experienced dog owner who could provide structure and coaching for him.
Pako absolutely loves his new home in Virginia and bounds around the yard doing a happy dance! He enjoys patrolling the property, chasing squirrels and rabbits, and sometimes catches the scent of nearby deer, which is very exciting! Pako and his new big brother, Lago, immediately began tracking and playing together. The two hit it off and were acting like brothers right away. They enjoy taking naps together and getting their bellies rubbed.
Pako’s parents tell us that he is quickly getting used to his new routine and he has a super happy energy. He makes sure he knows where they both are at all times but every day he’s less anxious, more relaxed, and confident. They almost renamed him Houdini because he does like to try to escape his harness. He is incredibly smart and is doing excellently with some basic training practice.
From Pako’s adopters: “We are so very blessed to have Pako join our family and we cannot thank everyone enough for saving him and making it possible. I can’t express fully what a joy it is to see him so happy here. He is a precious gift of life and we are so very grateful. Our hearts are full and we wish you a heart that is as full as ours.”
