What we know about Pia:

  • About 4 years old

  • Absolutely gorgeous!

  • Very energetic and curious!

  • Super sweet and friendly! Very cuddly.

  • Loves to run and play!

  • Is a peanut butter fiend! She loves it!!

  • Had neurological issues with her bladder (possibly because of a past trauma). She is partially incontinent and doesn’t know when she needs to pee or poop. She is on medication, and it is helping, but she may need to wear diapers or have a strict bathroom schedule (please see “Extra notes about Pia” for more info).

Extra Notes About Pia:

Pia is a lovely dog who would enjoy an active lifestyle, going on walks, to the beach, or hiking.  But, she has permanent neurological damage to her spinal cord nerves that has rendered her unable to feel when she has to go potty.  She walks and runs, but the nerve damage has taken away her feeling of when she has to potty.

We recently had an MRI done to determine if her condition could be addressed with a medical solution, but sadly, it cannot.  Pia is both fecally and urinary incontinent for life, and her condition cannot be trained away.  We suspect she was a puppy mill mommy dog and perhaps lived her whole live hunched over in a cage.  Dogs who don't have the room to stand up and run around like a normal dog, can get back compression that results in spinal cord nerve damage.

Pia has diapers to wear indoors but this is something that many adopters are uncomfortable with.  She needs the right adopter who can love her even with her potty issues.
