THIS IS SIR RODRIK! HE WAS RELAYED BY THREE CAMP COCKER VOLUNTEERS - FROM THE SAN DIEGO HUMANE SOCIETY TO THE VCA SPECIALTY HOSPITAL IN WEST LA ON THE AFTERNOON & EVENING OF SUPER-BOWL SUNDAY!

This little guy, named Sir Rodrik by the shelter, is estimated* to be only 8 months old, and has signs of hepatic encephalopathy as well as lab work consistent with a portosystemic shunt. This will require a significant medical workup with an internist, likely to be followed by liver shunt surgery with a specialist.

SIR RODRIK HAD POTENTIALLY LIFE-SAVING LIVER SHUNT SURGERY ON 3/18/24. IT WAS A DRAMATIC DAY, WITH SURGERY LASTING 4 HOURS! HE’S CURRENTLY RECOVERING IN THE ICU, WITH THE BEST OF CARE - AND A VILLAGE FULL OF CAMP COCKER SUPPORTERS PULLING FOR HIM! THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!

THE LATEST FROM SIR RODRIK’S CARE-GIVER:

Sir Rodrick is the best puppy anyone could ask for. He is loving, playful, smart and has tons of energy. He is great with big and small dogs and he does great around children
He enjoys going on walks, as well as playing with his toys. He does OK around cats. He is really food motivated and loves his treats. He knows how to sit and how to give paw. Sir Rodrick is potty trained. He is the perfect snuggle buddy.

UPDATE (MAY 12): SIR RODRIK IS DOING *SO* WELL SINCE HIS DRAMATIC LIFE-SAVING SURGICAL INTERVENTION ON 3/18! HE’LL BE BACK TO SEE THE SURGEON FOR AN IMPORTANT POST-OP VISIT ON MAY 17. KEEP AN EYE ON SIR RODRIK’S WEB PAGE FOR UPDATES ON HOW HE’S DOING, AND WHAT COMES NEXT FOR THIS SPECIAL PUPPY!
