Sydney
Adopted SEPTEMBER 2019!
Sydney’s Story:
In April 2019, Sydney was rescued from the San Bernardino animal shelter. She was filthy dirty and also pregnant. She had huge urine-soaked mats in her fur, rotten teeth, was covered in foxtails, and was infested with fleas and ticks. Her first stop was the vet, who told us that Sydney was just weeks away from giving birth. She went into labor on May 5th and became mom to eight tiny puppies. After her last puppy was born, Sydney collapsed and we rushed her to the hospital. Her gums were white and she needed fluids from dehydration. She was given oxygen and was stabilized so that she could continue to nurse her babies. Two days later, Sydney was very lethargic and again returned to the hospital. She had life-threatening pyometra and was immediately rushed into surgery. Sydney also needed a blood transfusion. The vet had saved her life and she was able to again resume nursing her puppies right away. Despite her stress and exhaustion, Sydney was such a good momma to her babies - Watson, Lulu, Trevor, Sophia, Henry, Liam, Sally, and Lauren.
Sydney is so sweet and cuddly and really loves belly rubs. Her new parents are friends with the families who adopted Lulu and Sally, so she gets to see them often! Sydney loves to play with toys (especially ripping the stuffing out of them!), likes to go on adventures, play on the beach, and spend time with her handsome new brother, Benny, who is also a cocker spaniel. She is so loved and it brings us such joy to see her happy and enjoying life!
