Vinny
Adopted JUNE 2023!
Vinny’s Story:
Vinny joined Camp Cocker Rescue via our Freedom Flight program in May 2023. He was one of the original strays brought to the newly-founded Huurhun Zulzaga shelter in Mongolia in 2020. He spent more than 18 months there, chained to a small wooden dog house, eating a mix of intestines and noodles. He survived winter outdoors in the coldest capital city in the world thanks to his incredibly thick coat of hair, which had grown into a wild, matted mess. Despite his sad history, Vinny is energetic, positive, and playful; he brightens the mood wherever he goes. He is the first Mongolian dog that we had committed to taking from there and we anxiously awaited his arrival while navigating the CDC requirements for his entry. He’s also relatively young, we estimate that he’s about five years old. This resilient guy has been through a lot and is still a beacon of positivity.
Vinny’s new mom shares that he is an absolutely lovely dog. He loves his food, toys, and especially tennis balls. He likes to wrestle and play tug-of-war and has a hilarious play growl. At night, he sleeps on her bed… and tries to take up most of it! He's already a velcro dog, following her everywhere she goes. She tells us that he must have extraordinary hearing and eyesight because he barks a lot at things that are outside. The two enjoy taking walks together and have a nice yard that he likes to hang out in. Vinny has been marking in the house, likely due to being in a new environment, so he wears doggie diapers most of the time for now. His mom sure was glad to learn about those!
From Vinny’s adopter: “Vinny's a great dog!! I'm really enjoying having him.”
