Walnut

Adopted AUGUST 2023!

Walnut’s Story:

Walnut was rescued from the North Central Animal Shelter in June 2023, along with his 11-pound mother, Cookie, and four siblings. The family had been discovered living under a dumpster behind a dental office. Walnut and his brothers, Chip, Graham, Peanut and Butterscotch were only a few days old at the time. Cookie was such a good mama to them! Little Walnut’s DNA test revealed that he is part toy poodle, pekingese, shih tzu, miniature schnauzer, maltese, and more! He was the first of the litter to be adopted.

Things are going great in Walnut’s new home! His adopters tell us he’s an old soul. He’s pretty mellow and is a big foodie… always eating! He already has a routine: in the morning he explores the backyard and goes potty outside, then it’s time for a nap. Around noon it’s time to explore the house and lay on the couch for a while, then nap time again. In the evening, it’s backyard time, couch time, and then nap time once again. At 9:00pm Walnut goes onto the human bed to get his hair brushed and then back to his condo for sleeping.

Walnut really likes to roll onto his back and get tummy rubs! It’s no surprise that the adorable pup has been getting a steady stream of visitors. He also loves to run and dig in the garden, which his new big brother, Benny, has been teaching him how to do. His parents are exposing him to all sorts of new things, which he approaches with a cautious curiosity. Walnut’s adopters tell us he’s a perfect addition to their family. Fun fact: Walnut’s new sister is Camp Cocker alumni, Sydney, class of 2019!
